Neil Hovick, DVM
A graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Hovick has been the owner of Village Veterinary Hospital since April 2004. Dr. Hovick is skilled in soft tissue surgery and orthopedics. In his free time, he enjoys working on the farm, spending time with his dog and cats, and attending Iowa State University athletic games.. "I enjoy working with dogs and cats, especially young ones who come in so happy and huggable."
Cheri Aldrich, DVM
Dr. Aldrich graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002 and joined a mixed animal practice, where she cared for both large and small animals. She then joined a primarily small animal practice here in the Des Moines area. Most recently, Dr. Aldrich has been involved with shelter medicine and trap-neuter-return programs throughout Central Iowa. She shares her country home with her husband, a dog, two cats, three horses, and fifteen chickens. Her favorite pass time is riding and training her horses, which she shows locally and through competitive trail rides. "I enjoy the endless variety of cases, animals, and people I meet every day that make veterinary medicine so interesting and rewarding."
Betty Grim, DVM
After receiving her BS in animal science from Northeast Missouri State University, Dr. Grim continued on to Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Grim has done regular relief work at Village Veterinary Hospital since 2001. Dr. Grim has a dog, three house cats, four outside cats, and three horses. She enjoys trail riding and trail ride competitions, bike riding, and spending time with her husband and son. "I like helping people and their pets have great lives together."
Veterinary Technician In Training
Joining us with a background in rescue health care at the Animal Rescue League, Abby is currently attending San Juan College for her vet tech degree. She currently has a cat and a dog, but loves to go horseback riding, both Western and English. She also enjoys taking care of her flower garden and painting. "Animals just make your day so much better!"
Registered Veterinary Technician
Billie Jo has been with us since 2008, when she started as a technician intern while she attended DMACC in their veterinary technology program. Although she holds an AA in liberal arts, an AAS in applied sciences, and an AAS in veterinary technology, Billie's other favorite job is that of "Mom" to her two children and many "furkids". "It's nice to know that I am making a difference in the lives of the people and pets we see."
Erica joined our team in November of 2014. She brings with her experience from working at two other local clinics, and is a bright and cheerful face at our front desk. She shares her life with her husband, children and one dog. She enjoys doing outdoor activities with her family, including working on cars, fishing, and camping. "I enjoy building lasting client/patient relationships."
Registered Veterinary Technician
A graduate of the DMACC veterinary technology program, Jamie joined our team after working at another local clinic. She has four cats, and a bloodhound mix name sugar that she spends her free time with. She also enjoys reading when she has the time. "I've found my home here at Village Veterinary Hospital, where I get to help animals and give them lots of love!"
Kelsie has a background as a animal care tech from previously working at the Animal Rescue League. She also is currently working with small animals at Pet Smart. She has 2 cats and a turtle. She enjoys hanging out with friends, cooking, and reading. "I enjoy doing a job I love and the people that I work with"

Ladesha previously worked in a residential facility as a human caretaker. She currently has a cat and a dog. She enjoys watching makeup tutorials and dance videos. "I like that I get to see and interact with different types of animals each day"

Madison is currently attending DMACC Veterinary Technology program. She was our 2017 summer intern as a veterinary assistant and previously has worked at Summit Veterinary Hospital as a kennel attendant. She has two dogs and three cats. She enjoys camping, hanging out with family and friends. "I enjoy meeting all of the clients/patients and caring for the animals"
Megan joined the Village Veterinary Hospital family after gaining experience working at two other local clinics. She shares her home with four cats, a dog, and a quaker parrot, and enjoys camping, fishing, drawing, and spending time with her family, including her toddler sons! "I really enjoy the client relationships and educating them on their pets' health. I also really love dentistry."
A graduate from DMACC with her associates degree. She brings in experience from a doctors office as a receptionist. She has 3 dogs and a turtle. She enjoys baking, painting, and spending time with her husband and son. "I enjoy interacting with patients and clients!"
